Helios

What do you want when the world’s on fire?

August burns bright and licks your desire

You’re dancing again to deliriums dread

The beast in your belly needs to be fed

Its the tickle in your skull that quakes for more

That snake in the grass licking at rotten sores

There’s a devil in your head poking at your worth

The definition of meaning is found through the search

What one might call summer brings you icicles and cold

The world getting frozen as your bones get old

And nothing makes you smile like it did long ago

The joy of the sun brings you a tempest of snow

Helios, burn this whole thing down

Let your chariot put ash into our mouths

Boil my skin while you sit in the clouds

Helios burn this whole thing down

The fire that you’re forging in the middle of your chest

Could melt all the snow from a glacier’s breast

You’re sharing your anger like a knife in the back

Your friends begin weeping for the soul that you lack

Suddenly all that you’ve built comes crumbling down

Burning from the coals you fanned up chasing a crown

I don’t want to think about what you’ve been saying

Your skull is full of cotton fraying

You try to silence the priests and the praying

Who you are dissected and flaying

Chorus

Helios, burn this whole thing down

Let your chariot put ash into our mouths

Boil my skin while you sit in the clouds

Helios burn this whole thing down
